WELCOME TO THE CHRISTMAS SELECTION OF TALES BY CRANE!

We know how big the rush is and how hard is
to get ourselves in the holiday! It’s hard, but not impossible!

This year our Christmas gift is to help you have a break, get away from it all, recall your most beautiful memories when the holiday was full of scents and glamour with the power of tales. We will help to spice up the advent season for you and capture the true spirit of Christmas so when the lights of Christmas will sparkle at last, you can really be present and experience the holiday with those who are the most important for you.

For this, we present you four wonderful tales, each is about an important ingredient of Christmas. These tales were selected and told by our colleague, Ági Kovács. Ági is not only the soul of our Culture.Crane division, but she is also a story-therapist who researches, reads and tells stories that are more special than special.

WE HAVE ATTACHED TO EACH TALE A SYMBOL AND A WORD THAT REPRESENT ONE OF THOSE INGREDIENTS THAT CAN MAKE CHRISTMAS SPARKLE EVEN BRIGHTER

WHY IS IT GOOD TO LISTEN
TO A TALE AS AN ADULT?

Originally, tales were not meant for children: all peoples and all communities told stories. Tales only moved into the nurseries and got written down in the 19th century when communities became looser or even disintegrated. These stories are also amazing because they talk about how our tipped-out world can return to its center, how trials, tasks and difficulties can be resolved.

Tales keep the fantasy and the inner imaginative function alive and strong. Through allowing us to identify ourselves with different characters, they can give us a solution to situations of our lives by passing on the word-of-mouth experience of our ancestors encoded in stories and symbols.

Numerous studies have shown that during story-listening, the listener calms down, the body relaxes, the breathing slows down and the whole body enters into a state of rest because of the tension-relieving effect of tales. This was what the American storyteller Fran Stallings called a story-listening trans.

While listening to a story, both hemispheres of the brain become active. In addition to the left hemisphere, which is responsible for rational, analytical functions, the right hemisphere, which provides intuition and imagination – and which we hardly use in everyday life – also turns on. A similar condition can only be caused by deep meditation and hypnosis.

OUR STORYTELLER, ÁGI KOVÁCS

Besides my role in Culture.Crane, I’m a Methamorphoses story-therapist who have learned from Ildikó Boldizsár, the developer of the story-therapy method. I hold story-therapy classes in kindergartens, and I also hold thematic groups and storytelling evenings for adults. My kindergarten kids named me Storyteller Ági which marks my Facebook presence as well.

My goal is to help others find their own inexhaustible inner resource from which they can feed off, gain strength, and get a positive outlook on life through the path of tales.

We wish you a fabulous Christmas, as well as great experiences and success in all fields of life for the New Year!
